Grading & Report Cards

At Furr High School, we are committed to ensuring that our grading practices reflect students’ academic progress and mastery of content. Grades serve as one of many tools to help students, families, and teachers monitor learning and identify areas of support or growth.

Grading Requirements:

A minimum of two grades must be entered per week for each course.

All missed or incomplete assignments will be calculated into a student’s average and can significantly affect their final grade. Students are strongly encouraged to complete all assignments in a timely manner and communicate with teachers about any make-up work opportunities.

Grading Cycles:

Grades are reported every six weeks in accordance with the Houston ISD academic calendar.

Please visit our Calendar Page for important grading deadlines and report card distribution dates.

Grading Categories & Weights:
To ensure a fair and consistent evaluation of student performance, each course will use the following grading categories and weights:

Class Assignments – 65%
(Daily work, projects, written responses, classwork activities)

Weekly DOL Average / Tests / Quizzes / Labs – 25%
(Assessments that measure comprehension and skill mastery)

Academic Discourse / Collaboration / Homework / Do Now – 10%
(Participation, group work, warm-ups, and practice outside of class)

Teachers may provide rubrics or specific grading criteria aligned to assignments within these categories.

If you have questions about a student's grades, please contact the teacher directly or reach out to the counselor's office for additional support.
